Here’s a little project that I did in effort to make my apartment feel a bit more like home. I’d love to paint a chevron backsplash in my kitchen, but that would require painting over it when I eventually move and I’m not so sure I want to deal with that. I decided to do a bit of word art instead or for the time being, that’s yet to be determined. It needed a little pop so I chose to put the word EAT over the oven. I think it turned out cute.
{A Quick How-To}
Paint the letters using the acrylic paint and sponge brush. It took about 3 coats for me to get a good cover so the brown wasn’t visable behind the paint. Once the paint is dry spray them with the polyurethane {follow the directions on the can}. I stepped outside on my balcony for this step and still used the paper bag to protect the patio floor of overspray. I would do at least 2-3 coats of the polyurethane. Once your letters have had enough time to thoroughly dry place your velcro on multiple places on the back so that you can adhere them to the wall. You can obviously use other ways to mount them, but this was cheap, easy and works for temporary purposes. Before I placed the letters on the wall I made sure I knew their placing and spacing because once the sticky side is on the wall it’s really on there.

The Beginning:
When I moved back home to my parents house about a year ago I couldn’t bring any furnishings with me. Now I’m on a mission to change a blank room from blah to ooh-la-la. In doing so, I want it to be a look that will be easily transferable to a place of my own when that time comes again.
So far I have a bed with a super chic headboard and a very pretty chest/nightstand.
Not my bedroom, but it looks like a gorgeous one. I would love a wool shag rug too!
I don’t have pictures of my room yet since there are quite a lot of elements still missing from it, like a new coat of paint on the walls and prettier bedding for example. Those are kind of essential pieces for a room makeover.
I’d like to stick with white bedding along with different ivories in throw pillows and maybe a pop of color in the pillows as well. I’m also in search of a drum lampshade that will go with the head board material; I just haven’t found the right one yet and have actually found this task a bit difficult. This project of mine is a slow process, but I know it’s totally worth it.
I’ll update as I progress in my design.

Okay, this isn’t about a quote from The Anchor Man, but it fit so well. I’m in love with this lamp. It’s darling, though quite pricey.
You can find this whimsical lamp at Anthropologie.com. It’s very Alice in Wonderland don’t you think?
Anthropologie is among one of my most favorite stores, but their pretty items can add up quickly! I like to shop their sales, however I’ll find myself saying “But what if it’s not here by the time it would go on sale?!” and of course they’ve got me at that point, hook – line – and sinker!
I got to wondering if this lamp was something I could make on my own…perhaps! I love the idea of plain white china with a funky lampshade leaving the teacups to make a statement with their shapes, though patterned china could be very cute as well, with a more subdued shade.
You can make a lamp out of anything, right? I suppose so; given you have the right tools. A visit to Lowe’s could be found useful. With their lamp kit, I think a DIY tea time lamp could be very doable. This just might be something I’ll have to take a stab at…or save for the almost $200 Anthropologie version.
What if they don’t have it by the time I set aside extra money or they go on sale?!
OH Dear, there I go.
